What is the Designated Classes of Projects Order?

This Ministerial Order sets out the classes of projects on federal lands and outside Canada that, if carried out, will cause only insignificant adverse environmental effects. These projects would not be subject to the requirements under the IAA for projects on federal lands and outside Canada.

Consultation

The Government of Canada published a Consultation Paper on this Ministerial order and invited the public to comment from July 22 to August 21, 2019.

Outcomes of the consultation

The Government considered all comments received in finalizing the regulations. A Regulatory Impact Analysis Statement accompanied the publication of the final regulations in Canada Gazette, Part II on September 18, 2019. It provides a summary of the comments received, as well as a detailed outline of any changes to the regulatory proposal.
