What are the Information and Management of Time Limits Regulations?

These regulations set out:

  • the information requirements for the planning phase
  • clear criteria under which the Impact Assessment Agency of Canada (the Agency) can suspend legislated timelines
  • the format in which to provide information to the Agency

Consultation

The Government of Canada published a Discussion Paper on the Proposed Information Requirements and Time Management Regulations and invited the public to comment from May 1 to May 31, 2019.

The Discussion Paper built on a previous Consultation Paper on Information Requirements and Time Management Regulations. Public comments on that Consultation Paper were sought from February 8 to June 1, 2018.

Outcomes of the consultation

The Government considered all comments received in finalizing the regulations. A Regulatory Impact Analysis Statement accompanied the publication of the final regulations in Canada Gazette, Part II on August 21, 2019. It provides a summary of the comments received, as well as a detailed outline of any changes to the regulatory proposal.
